Classroom Teacher Instructions and Prep

This lesson plan will work best as a pre-planned absence.  Students need to complete planning steps to allow them to focus on creating the artwork during your absence.  I will be preparing my students through a serious of warmups to help them complete all of their brainstorming and planning prior to the activity.  I've included four days of warmups to help students create well developed artwork.  All dates are for my own absence

2 Weeks Prior:  Students must have parents sign their submission paper to participate in the contest.  I wrote a letter and had parents sign if they wanted their student to participate and write no with their initials if they did not.  I explained that students would complete the activity whether or not they participate in the contest.  The following link will take you to the form that students and parents must complete:  https://static.googleusercontent.com/media/doodles.google.com/en//d4g/assets/d4g-entry-form.pdf

Warmups to Prepare(Have students complete all warmup activities on a single sheet of paper.):

Day 1(Thursday, February 8, 2018):  Take students to https://doodles.google.com/d4g/
Scroll to the bottom of the page.  Show students examples of other Google Doodles.  Have students make a list of 10 things that Inspire them.  Ask them to circle one and write a Perfect 3 Sentence Answer(the writing format you use in your classroom) explaining why this inspires them.

Day 2(Monday, February 12, 2018): On the same sheet of paper, have students draw three thumbnail sketches(3 minutes a piece) of images that would represent the thing that inspires them.

Day 3(Tuesday, February 13, 2018):  Have students begin a plan, on the back of their paper.  Present students with the dimensions for the work and let them know that it should be completed in color.  Provide students with 10 minutes to work.

Day 4(Tuesday, February 14, 2018):  Have students complete their plan.  Present students with the dimension for the work and let them know that it should be completed in color.  Provide students with 10 minutes to work.

See first post for sub plan.
